Pakistan’s electric vehicle market is entering an important new phase as automakers increasingly bring more affordable and technology-focused EVs to the country. The latest addition to this growing market will be the Chery Q, an all-electric urban hatchback that Chery Master Pakistan is preparing to launch at the Pakistan Auto Show (PAPS) 2026 on September 18.
The Chery Q is particularly interesting because it combines a relatively compact city-friendly design with a 42.7 kWh battery, a claimed range of up to 400 km under the NEDC testing cycle, Level 2 driver-assistance technology, automatic parking assistance, a large 15.6-inch display and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.
More importantly, Chery is not positioning the Q simply as another electric car. The company is targeting consumers who want a practical vehicle for daily commuting, urban driving and household use, while also highlighting the potential cost advantage of charging an EV using Pakistan’s growing rooftop solar capacity.
However, there is still one major piece of the puzzle missing: the price. Chery Master Pakistan says the official price and booking details will be announced at the September 18 auto show. That price could ultimately determine how competitive the Chery Q becomes in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding EV market.
What Is the Chery Q?
The Chery Q is a compact five-door electric hatchback designed primarily for urban mobility.
Instead of focusing purely on high performance, Chery has designed the Q around everyday usability. Its relatively compact body should make it easier to drive through crowded city streets, while its long wheelbase provides more interior space than its exterior size might suggest.
Chery describes the Q as an urban-focused EV, making it suitable for:

- Family use
- Short and medium-distance travel
- As a second household vehicle
The vehicle measures around 4,195 mm in length and has a 2,700 mm wheelbase.

42.7 kWh Battery and Up to 400 km Range
One of the biggest attractions of the Chery Q is its battery and claimed driving range.
The Pakistan-bound model is reported to feature a 42.7 kWh battery pack and a claimed range of up to 400 km under the NEDC testing cycle.
For an urban EV, this could be useful because drivers would not necessarily need to charge the vehicle every day.
However, buyers should understand one important point.
400 km is an NEDC figure
The 400 km figure is based on the NEDC testing cycle. Real-world driving range can be lower depending on:
- Driving speed
- Traffic
- Air-conditioning use
- Temperature
- Road conditions
- Passenger load
- Driving style
For comparison, a current Chery Q specification in another market quotes around 310 km under WLTP with the same 42.7 kWh battery.
Therefore, the 400 km figure should be viewed as a claimed laboratory range, rather than a guarantee that every driver will achieve 400 km in normal conditions.
90 kW Electric Motor
The Chery Q is powered by a 90 kW electric motor producing around 115 Nm of torque in specifications reported for the model.
The motor is mounted at the rear, giving the car a rear-wheel-drive layout.
This is an interesting configuration for a compact EV because many affordable electric cars use front-wheel drive.
The rear-wheel-drive setup can provide:

Pakistan launch reports say the vehicle will offer 21 ADAS functions. Chery’s official Thailand information also lists 21 ADAS functions for the Q.
ADAS uses cameras, sensors and software to assist the driver.
Depending on the market and trim, such systems can include technologies such as:
- Lane assistance
- Collision warning
- Automatic emergency braking
- Adaptive cruise assistance
- Traffic monitoring
- Parking assistance
But Level 2 does not mean autonomous driving
This is important.
The Chery Q is not a fully autonomous vehicle.
Level 2 ADAS means the vehicle can assist with certain driving tasks, but the driver remains responsible for controlling and monitoring the vehicle.
So, it would be incorrect to describe the Chery Q as a driverless car.
Automatic Parking Assist
Another useful technology is Automatic Parking Assist.
Parking can be difficult in crowded urban areas, especially where parking spaces are narrow.
The automatic parking system is designed to help the driver perform parking manoeuvres using the vehicle’s sensors and cameras.
This could make the Q particularly attractive to urban buyers who want an easier driving experience.
Chery’s official market information lists automatic parking assistance among the Q’s technology features.
Large 15.6-inch 2.5K Display
Inside the cabin, the Chery Q focuses heavily on digital technology.
The vehicle is reported to feature a 15.6-inch 2.5K display, providing access to infotainment and other vehicle functions.
A large central display can be used for functions such as:
- Navigation
- Entertainment
- Vehicle settings
- Connectivity
- Camera views
- Other smart-car functions
This gives the Q a more modern, technology-oriented interior compared with many conventional petrol hatchbacks.
Vehicle-to-Load Technology

According to figures shared by Chery Master Pakistan, Pakistan’s new-energy vehicle segment grew by 392% during FY2025-26 and reached around 15% of the overall automobile market.
If this growth continues, there could be increasing demand for affordable and practical EVs rather than only premium electric vehicles.
This is exactly the segment where Chery Q is being positioned.
Why the Chery Q Could Be Important for Chery
Chery already has a presence in Pakistan through its partnership with Master Group.
According to Chery Master Pakistan, the company has established 15 3S dealerships in less than 10 months. Globally, Chery says it operates in more than 130 countries and has more than 20 million customers.
The Q gives the company an opportunity to expand beyond conventional vehicles and establish a stronger position in Pakistan’s emerging EV market.
What Could Be the Biggest Challenge?
Despite its attractive technology package, the Chery Q still faces several challenges.
Price
This is probably the biggest question.
Chery has not yet announced the Pakistan price. The company plans to reveal the price and booking information at PAPS 2026 on September 18.
If the Q is priced competitively, it could attract a much wider customer base.
If it is significantly more expensive than competing EVs, some buyers may choose alternative models.
Charging Infrastructure
More public charging stations will be important if EV adoption continues to grow.
After-Sales Service
EV buyers will also look closely at:
- Battery warranty
- Spare parts
- Service availability
- Repair costs
- Software support
Real-World Range
The difference between NEDC range and real-world range will also matter to customers.
Specifications can vary by market and trim, so the final Pakistan-market configuration should be confirmed at the official launch.
Can Chery Q Become a Popular EV in Pakistan?
The Chery Q arrives at an interesting time for Pakistan’s automobile market. EV adoption is increasing, rooftop solar is becoming more important for households, and consumers are gradually becoming more familiar with electric mobility.
The Q’s biggest advantage is not simply its 400 km claimed range. Its real attraction is the combination of a 42.7 kWh battery, 90 kW rear-mounted motor, Level 2 ADAS, automatic parking, large digital display and V2L technology in a compact urban EV.
However, the final verdict will largely depend on price, warranty, after-sales support and real-world running costs.
The September 18 launch will therefore be important. Once Chery Master Pakistan announces the official price and booking details, buyers will finally be able to judge whether the Chery Q is simply another new EV in Pakistan or a genuinely competitive option for mass-market electric mobility.
In short: Chery Q has the technology and range claim to attract attention, but its price will decide how big an impact it can make in Pakistan’s EV market.
